Santa handed out over 6,000 gifts to underprivileged children at the Welcome Hall Mission in Montreal.
More than 6,000 families gathered at the Mission on Saturday. Santa took photos with families and handed out gifts to children.
The organization relies almost entirely on fundraising and donations. Saturday's gift-giving was made possible by donations from the public and several companies.
The number of asylum seekers using the services the Mission offers jumped from 600 to 6300 since 2016.
A total of 18,000 people regularly use the charity's services.
According to its website, the Welcome Hall Mission's mandate is to "help Montrealers in need."
May of their programs support the homeless, families, and at-risk mothers and youth.
Each week, the Mission prepares 4,700 meals, hand out food to over 3,000 people via Marché Bon Accueil, and prepare 90 meals for hungry school children by participants in the Mission’s skills acquisition program.
The Mission was established in 1892, and is located at 1448 Rue Beaudry as well as 4755 Acorn, corner of de Courcelle.
