A raid by provincial police on a Montreal home on Monday turned up three valuable paintings by acclaimed Quebec artist Jean-Paul Riopelle that were stolen in 1999.
The SQ says a tip from the public led to the artwork, which dates back to the mid-1950s, and is said to be worth approximately $150,000.
No arrests were made, though the investigation continues.
Riopelle died in 2002 at the age of 78. After his death, a square outside the downtown Palais des Congrès was named in his honor.
