Quebec provincial police say they're taking measures to protect a Montreal Canadiens legend and his son, who's the main SQ spokesperson, after they received death threats allegedly from the Hell's Angels.
La Presse reported interim Montreal police chief Martin Prud’homme, who's a former head of the SQ, said all Quebec law enforcement officers are concerned about the threats and are united in fighting organized crime.
The main spokesperson for Montreal police, Ian Lafreniere, told La Presse the threat cannot be tolerated, adding it's an attack on democracy.
The history between provincial police and biker gangs is described as long and complicated.
Lapointe Jr. has been the public face of the SQ on very big files, including organized crime.
