The Montreal version of the Women's March on Washington saw thousands fill the Places des Arts Esplanade and block off a section of Ste Catherine Street in order to spread their anti-Trump and pro-women's rights message.
"We knew Montreal would have a robust event today, but this is completely overwhelming," said Gillian Sonin, one of the event's organizers who estimated the crowd was close to 10,000.
Though the crowd was mainly made up of women, many men were on hand as well.
A lot of parents brought their children to take part.
"I want her to be able to have every bit of rights and freedoms that we've fought for all this time, so the next generation needs to really take the baton and run with it. It's important for her to be here," said Eva Broon, who was there with her 15-year-old daughter.
Many members of the crowd held colourful signs with anti-Trump and pro-women's rights slogans on them.
About a dozen speakers addressed the cheering crowd, including broadcaster Toula Drimonis, journalist Sue Montgomery and French TV persoanlity Penelope McQuade.
