Thousands of English-speaking Quebecers responded to the call last month to apply for a job in the provincial public service - 24,000 to be exact.
The Quebec government's new Anglophone affairs secretariat put out a call for applications early last month. The deadline was June 19.
It was making good on its promise to help in recruiting more English-speakers in the civil service.
They were looking for employees in three different groups all at the same time - the first time the public service department had done this.
A spokesperson tells CJAD 800 that they received more applications than usual for such a recruiting drive.
