A three-year-old child was killed in a fire that devastated a single-family home in the Cap-de-la-Madeleine area of Trois-Rivières in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Two adults, the child's parents, were injured and were taken to hospital. Police believe they will survive their injuries.
The fire broke out in the house, located on Massicotte St. around midnight.
It seems that the adults jumped out of a window to escape the flames, which reportedly cut off access to the second floor, where the child was.
The overnight temperature, -28 degrees below zero, made it difficult for firefighters to extinguish the blaze.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established.
