A 58-year-old out-of-work accountant is taking to the streets to find a job — or more to the point, taking to a street corner with a billboard offering her services.
Lise Ouimet went to the industrial park in north shore Blainville on Monday morning, in a -20-degree cold, with a billboard reading, "Job. I need you, you need me. Accounting," along with her phone number.
She stood outside for two hours in the morning, and another two hours during the evening rush hour.
And she says he phone hasn't stopped ringing since. Reporters have been after her — and so have potential employers.
"My agenda is starting to fill up for this week," Ouimet told CJAD 800 News. "I have interviews scheduled for each day this week. Right now I have two per day on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. And other employers try to reach me on the Internet."
Ouimet, a mother of two, has been an accounting technician for the past 35 years. She quit a job in Montreal so she could work closer to her home in Terrebonne.
She plans to be out and about with her sign every day until Friday — barring, of course, the odd job interview.
Ouimet says she's delighted with the response she's been getting with her billboard.
"I'm super happy. I'll get the job of my dreams," she says.
