A 3-year-old boy was bitten by a coyote in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough last night.
Montreal police have confirmed that the incident, which orginally involved a girl, later confirmed to be a boy, took place in the Parc des Hirondelles at around 6:30 pm on Saturday.
The boy was taken to hospital by her father and only suffered minor injuries.
Police continue to canvass the park and nearby areas for the coyote.
It remained unclear how the boy first came into contact with the animal.
In the park, a temporary sign has been erected by the City of Montreal warning visitors to remain vigilant and discouraging visits to the park after sunset.
Coyotes have been sighted near the Rivière des Prairies in growing numbers for months now, with 70% of coyote attacks reported in the past year taking place in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville.
