The Quebec flag will continue to fly outside of the province's liquor stores.
Reports this morning that the SAQ was in the process of removing the flags from the outside of its outlets apparently sparked a public outcry.
A spokesperson for the SAQ suggested the flags were being removed as a cost-cutting measure, as flags tend to deteriorate quickly when left to the elements.
But by Tuesday afternoon, however, that same spokesperson is backtracking on the move, saying she understands flag's symbolic value for many Quebecers.
