Guy Ouellette, the Chomedey MNA who stepped away from the Liberal caucus following his arrest a month ago by UPAC investigators, has returned to the Liberal fold.
On Tuesday, he formally requested a return to the Liberal caucus. He was reinstated after the caucus held a meeting on Tuesday morning.
Ouellette was arrested in dramatic fashion on Oct. 25 — apparently in connection with leaks concerning an ongoing UPAC investigation.
Ouellette was never charged in the case.
The arrest — and UPAC's failure to lay charges — sparked outrage among National Assembly members. Speaker Jacques Chagnon said it was 'intolerable' for an MNA to be taken into custody and not be charged.
Ouellette had said he was the victim of a UPAC setup.
