There is a reported Quebec link to the nightclub in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where five people died in a shooting incident early yesterday morning.
La Presse says one of the owners of the Blue Parrot nightclub is Gregory Senecal, who the newspaper says is an aquaintance of Gregory Wooley, a former associate of jailed Hell's Angel Maurice "Mom" Boucher.
The paper also reports Senecal's name came up when Quebec's liquor board was investigating alleged organized crime activities at Club Muzique, a nightclub on St. Laurent Blvd.
The second owner is identified as Benoit Lamy, whose Facebook page describes him as the founder of the electronic music festival which was taking place when the shooting happened.
Reports from Playa del Carmen suggest the shooting happened when a local drug dealer was kicked out of the popular bar.
Canadian officials, meantime, now say one Canadian was killed in the attack, and not two. He's Hamilton native Kirk Wilson, who was working as a bouncer at the club.
