It'll be last call Saturday for a popular, century-old West Island watering hole.
The Pioneer bar in Pointe Claire will serve its last drinks, but there are those who are worried about the future.
The owner says there's a deal with a developer to build condos.
Andrew Swidzinski, Pointe-Claire resident and member of the local Historical Society, spoke with CTV.
"This property is now being lost to the area. We're replacing it with a condo project that doesn't really belong in this village, which will look completely different from the kinds of buildings and the kind of heritage architecture that we've been used to seeing here for so long", said Swidzinski.
A demolition permit still has to be granted.
A public meeting on that is scheduled for August 9th.
A petition to save the bar, which has been around for 40-years, has collected some 3,500 signatures.
