It's called a learn to resist conference and went on Saturday at Concordia University.
But not without opposition.
It's aimed at understanding and resisting the far right.
"When anti-immigrant groups heard about this conference, they started a stop-terrorist workshop facebook event. In this event, they said that they would gather outside Concordia in order to try and stop this conference from going on", said CTV's Amanda Kline.
There were some clashes between two opposing groups outside the university's downtown campus and with police.
No arrests were made.
A member from each side was ticketed for violating a municipal bylaw, but details of the infraction were not given.
