Seeing a seal sunbathing in Quebec isn't new, but seeing one hanging out on the ice in Verdun is another story.
Avid bird watcher Jean-Marc Lacoste managed to capture the rare site on Monday.
The young marine mammal was spotted on the floating ice of the St. Lawrence River between Parc des Rapides and Nuns' Island near LaSalle Blvd.
While seals typically keep to the area downstream of Montreal, in the Estuary and Gulf of the St. Lawrence a couple hundred kilometres from where Lacoste captured the video, they can be spotted from time to time in the Montreal region.
