The provincial police captain in charge of the Highway 13 snowstorm situation wasn't actually on the job during the late afternoon of March 14.
La Presse says he wasn't even on the Island of Montreal.
The captain left his post during his regular working hours to see a notary in Blainville, north of Laval, for a transaction involving his other job, that of a licensed real estate agent.
Documents show he was with the notary at four o'clock in the afternoon, at a time when road conditions had worsened and there were already a number of accidents.
He insists to La Presse that he never lets his moonlighting overshadow his responsibilities as an SQ officer.
He has been put on suspension while his actions during the snowstorm are investigated.
