The ongoing contract dispute between Urgences-santé and its employees has gotten downright dirty.
Without a contract for nearly two years, EMTs and other Urgences-santé union members went on strike earlier this month. As part of their protest all non-essential services, mainly administrative services have been put on hold.
Negotiations continue, but the two sides have still not been able to come to a deal.
This weekend, employees arrived at operational headquarters in LaSalle, Saint-Léonard and Laval to find they had been locked out of their bathrooms, with no access to the toilets or showers.
Pieces of plywood were used to board up the toilets, while the showers are kept under a lock and key.
Employees were in shock, including Jennifer Jault, took to Facebook to show off the situation.
A letter posted on the door to the bathrooms informs employees anyone who needs to use a toilet can use one of the porta potty's set up in the garage.
Urgences-santé did not return CJAD 800's calls for comment; however a spokesperson told TVA the move was made after cleanliness levels dropped to unacceptable levels.
As part of the protest, Urgences-santé told the news channel the bathrooms were no longer being cleaned, and there are too few executives at each station to ensure proper upkeep. The situation got to a point management believed it would fail a potential inspection by the Worker Health and Safety Board (CNESST).
