Montreal's 194th St Patrick's Day Parade begins Sunday at noon at Fort and Ste Catherine and wraps up at Phillips Square. Pick your vantage point early, dress warmly and bring your smiles... and wave to us! You'll see CJAD, Dormez-Vous and the Children's Hospital walking together in the parade, along with hundreds of other groups and floats. The town of Hudson presents its parade on Saturday at 1pm, with Grand Marshall PJ Stock! Our own Era Boquer will be part of the reviewing committee.
If you want to learn more about Montreal's Irish history, albeit a difficult part of it, go on a Irish Famine Walking Tour at the Pointe-à-Callière museum in Old Montreal. The tour will examine the Irish Famine of 1847 and includes a visit to church ruins and the commemorative Black Rock.
For theatre fiends: Angelique is a play inspired by a black slave who was found guilty of starting a massive fire in Montreal over 200 hundreds years ago. Late playwright Lorena Gale combed through city archives to imagine Angelique's tragic life and story. A production between Black Theatre Workshop and Tableau d'Hote theatre, it features beautiful live percussion music, funky costumes and a terrific cast.

Scandinavian culture celebration Fikas Fest returns for its second year with forays into the music, food and art of Scandi countries. This weekend, you can join a workshop to learn how to make Nordic moccasins or Scandinavian embroidery. (A Fika is a traditional Swedish coffee break.)
An excellent, award-winning comedy duo is at Theatre Ste Catherine for the monthly Friday-night Sketch Republic sketch comedy series: The Vancover-based Peter ‘n Chris (pictured above) met in acting school when they started spoofing the very material they were supposed to take seriously. They not only have incredible chemistry, but have done two-man shows satirizing the Lord of the Rings and an adventure through the body, and have written for CBC and College Humour. Opening comedy acts: Pickle Party and Goddamn Bear.
