A night filled with strong winds and both freezing and regular rain caused trouble in and around Montreal.
The steady rainfall mixed with snow created slushy and slippery conditions in many parts of the Greater Montreal area, making driving very difficult for anyone on the roads overnight.
On the South Shore a large truck ended up on its side in a ditch on the side of Highway 20 near Sainte-Julie after its driver lost control.

There were several other accidents throughout the city and surrounding areas; no serious injuries were reported.
Strong winds knocked over Highway signs, damaged street lights, and took almost anything that wasn't tied down for a ride.
Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the Montreal, Châteauguay - La Prairie, Laval and Longueuil - Varennes areas, gusts are expected to reach 90 km/h, diminishing to 50 km/h near noon.
The mix of wind and wet snow caused trouble for Hydro Quebec overnight, with nearly 25,000 customers losing power overnight. In Montreal more than 5,600 clients were in the dark at around 4:00 A.M. though crews had the majority of outages on the island wrapped up by 5:00 A.M.
The weather also delayed and cancelled dozens of flights late Tuesday and early Wednesday at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. "We recommend to double-check your flight status with your airline before heading to the airport" the Aéroports-Montréal Twitter account suggested Wednesday morning.
