Despite being dogged by controversy over his pit bull ban and his spending on 375th anniversary projects, Denis Coderre remains very popular among Montrealers.
A survey by the Mainstreet firm for Postmedia looked at how people in several Canadian cities felt about their mayors.
In Montreal, 62 per cent of those polled approve of Coderre's performance as mayor, while 30 per cent disapprove.
Eight percent said they had no opinion.
The mayor's support is consistent across the language divide — 64 per cent among anglophones, 61 per cent among francophones.
The mayor enjoys a 70 per cent approval rating among those 18 to 34 years old. Among those 65 and over, Coderre's rating is at 56 per cent.
Coderre's approval rating put him 4th among Canada's mayors, behind Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson, who received a 79-per-cent approval rating.
He was followed by Saskatoon’s Charlie Clark at 72 per cent, and Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi, who came in third at 65 per cent.
Coderre is up for re-election in November of this year.
